This Georgian Town House, within Chester’s city walls had been a much loved family home for many years and was being sold the executors of the late owner. We built up a good relationship with the executors over the course of the marketing and sale process. The house needed updating which was likely to mean some configuration of the interior space. The buyers, a young professional couple, had not bought a period property before, and the house is not only Grade II Listed but in a conservation area too. We contacted an architect and planning expert to meet the buyers at the property to discuss their concerns and plans for how the house might look in the future. This helped reassure the buyers that the house could be sympathetically updated whilst respecting its history and proportions. Over the years we have built up experience in dealing with the sale of period properties; their beauty often attracts lots of prospective buyers, but the reality of having to look after a piece of history whilst making it a 21st century dwelling can spook some would-be purchasers.
