Unbelievably the school summer holidays are almost over and before we know it the much-anticipated first day of school doorstep photos will be dominating our social media accounts! But we’re all very well aware that creating a confident, well-rounded young person is about so much more than just their timetabled lessons at school. As parents we focus a great deal of time, energy, and money cultivating their wider interests. But it can be a daunting task trying to find just the right class or club that will suit your child. So here at Rickitt Partnership we have done our best to help, we have put together our top picks of clubs and classes for kids in Cheshire – we’re sure you’ll find something for just about everyone – the creative types, the sporty types, the techy types and the outdoorsy ones! For the arty and creative types
Fun & inspiring drama & singing lessons for children aged 4 – 18 years
The multi-award winning drama & singing classes at Little Voices grow confidence, build vital life skills, and nurture talent in young people
Lessons take place mid-week after school and your child will work towards LAMDA exams and qualifications, which will help boost their confidence and communication skills, as well as develop their musical and acting abilities.

How about a fun filled morning of art and pottery…. On a bus!! The Art Bus runs Saturday morning art clubs in Huntington village which are open to any children of primary school age. These are mixed classes exploring art and pottery and they run from 9 am-12 pm in term time.
Creation Station Little Explorers
Your child’s natural curiosity will be sparked with fun, hands-on art and crafts through the creative Little Explorer classes. Your child can join in at a pace that suits them in a safe social, educational and fun environment

Today’s kids are spoilt for choice with sporting opportunities, classes and teams for all ages – even tiny tots are catered for, with a range of sporting activities like baby gymnastics and toddler soccer.
There’s a huge spectrum of sports clubs and lessons for older children, too, such as swimming, football, cricket and netball, whether your child is a complete beginner or an experienced athlete.

Little Gymnasts have been delivering weekly recreational gymnastics classes for primary aged children since 2013. Their team of fully qualified, enthusiastic and experienced coaches provide engaging and varied sessions with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment. They cover all the core skills of gymnastics and also use lots of apparatus such as vault, airtracks, trampettes, beams, benches and bars. Every few months children will get the chance to work towards the awards scheme.

The Chester Girls Football League

The Chester Girls Football League provides greater accessibility for girls in the area to play football in a quality competitive structure. In light of the Lionesses brilliant performance at the World Cup and the ever increasing popularity of the women’s game, what a great way to inspire your daughter to be the very best version of herself.
Northwich rowing club junior intake starts at 13 years old. The number of training sessions each week depends on age and experience but a reasonable amount of commitment is expected from Juniors. Being part of the Junior squad helps build confidence and self-esteem. It also helps to cultivate a sense of commitment and responsibility as well as good organisational skills.
For the tech-savy types
Science Whiz is a live, interactive, extracurricular science club for kids at Key Stages 2 and 3 that supports and expands on the science taught in school. A Science Whiz session is accessible from anywhere in the World and can easily be joined from home. All you need is access to the Zoom meeting and the basic kitchen-cupboard items that Science Whiz lists out for you. Sessions are currently on Thursday evenings and on Saturdays at midday.
Inventors and Makers aims to make engineering accessible to children in primary schools. Inventors & Makers was set up by a former primary teacher, the clubs run online and can be accessed from home to give children the chance to learn about engineering. Every session includes a progressive teaching element followed by hands-on application of the concepts as children investigate, create and problem solve.
For the outdoorsy types

This is a free open access play club for children aged 5 to 12 years. Children have the opportunity to get involved with Arts & Crafts, board games, outdoor play, and sport.

There are undoubtedly many benefits to spending time exploring, learning and playing whilst being surrounded by nature. Wild Things is an early years outdoor playgroup held in woodlands at the Forest Scout Camp, Sandiway, Cheshire. The playgroup is for 1-3 year olds, and is run by Claire, an Early Years trained teacher. It aims to let children explore nature, with the emphasis on child-led play letting them explore and get dirty!!
Friday morning 10am – 11.30am
Riding lessons
If your child has a love of both the great outdoors and of animals then why not consider getting them started with riding lessons. Check out the BHS website for approved centres near you. But be warned, from a lifelong devotee of horses – if they get the bug, you will never have any time or money ever again!
