Formula Ford test driving

As some of you may know, our Managing Director, Tim Rickitt, harbours quite a passion for motor sports with a particular leaning towards the classics – both cars and races.  So, a couple of weeks ago Tim headed off to spend the day at Cheshire’s very own Oulton Park…

But this was no ordinary day out – no eating canapes or socialising for Tim, for he was fully focused on the track, as he tested Rickitt Partnership’s Formula Ford car in preparation for his first race in July. 

Back in his youth Tim raced in the XR2 Challenge and ever since he has hankered to be back behind the wheel. Well, fast forward a few (!) years and Rickitt Partnership is now the proud owner of a Classic Van Diemen RF80 Formula Ford with a 1600 ford engine.

Off the track the car is looked after by experienced race mechanics Jan and Leigh from J&L Auto Techniks in Tattenhall and the car could not be in safer hands.  On the track, the test day at Oulton Park was the first time Tim had driven the car as well as his first time in a single seater.  He reported that he found the whole experience absolutely splendid!

The next stop for Rickitt Partnership Racing will be another test drive at Anglesey circuit in June followed a month later by Tim’s first race at Oulton Park on Saturday 15 July.  We would love you to come along to Oulton Park to support Tim and Rickitt Partnership Racing in the BRSCC Super Classic Pre 99 Formula Ford Championship.  So pop the date in the diary and enjoy a day out cheering Tim over the finish line.
