Ralph reviews a mid-terrace period house in Hoole
Well I have just about caught my breath and dried out after last week’s rather wild Storm Christoph – I do hope that you all kept safe and sound through such turbulent weather conditions. I have kept a keen eye on the weather forecast ever since and, whilst it is undoubtedly on the chilly side, I am relieved to see that we have settled into less ferocious meteorological patterns.
So as a new week dawned I donned multiple layers of clothing (I can attest to the fact that it really is chilly out there – it takes my poor little paws a good hour to thaw out by the fire after my morning walk!) before setting off to the chic conurbation of Hoole. Sauntering down trendy Hoole Road I came to a stop outside a decidedly elegant mid-terrace period house which was to be the subject of today’s review. I muttered a silent prayer of thanks that I chose to wear my most prized designer knitwear casually overlaid with a barbour dog jacket – understated style would suit this beautiful home just perfectly if the outward appearance was anything to go by.
I enjoyed the crunch of gravel underpaw as I approached the front door before stepping over the threshold into a contemporary styled hallway complete with the most exquisite tiles on the floor – ok so they would put paid to my ability to creep undetected into the kitchen for midnight scooby-snacks but oh my, they were so stylish! At the end of the hallway I spied a door leading into a conveniently located cloakroom as well as one which I discovered led down to the cellar. A door to my left enticed me into a simply stunning open-plan living/dining space. Full of features such as a period style bay window at the front, French doors leading to the patio at the back, a log-burning stove and a beautiful wooden floor, I simply adored the contrast between the period features and the chic, contemporary styling. 83 Hoole Road was proving to be just the pad for an urbane pug about town.
My next stop was the kitchen which, once again exceeded all my expectations. Contemporary grey painted units and the white tiled splash back were perfectly complemented by period style windows and a herringbone wooden floor. Closing my eyes I could picture my cohort of trendy, health-conscious doggie friends gathered together in this sociable space enjoying a raw food dinner party – oh how at home they would feel. Before making my way upstairs to explore the delights of the first floor, my attention was drawn to a handy utility room which is accessed from outside.
At the top of the stairs I found myself on a split landing where I discovered a total of three bedrooms and a further bedroom/study. The first bedroom I entered was contemporary and spacious and, with large fitted wardrobes, it was fully kitted out for a pug about town to move straight in with his extensive collection of harnesses and dog coats.
My delight rose to greater heights when I discovered that this bedroom boasted an en suite shower room – this bedroom had Ralph’s name written all over it, I thought to myself with a smile of pure glee. My next stop was a cosy room with a charming whitewashed wooden floor. Feeling very chic and bohemian I thought this would be a perfect room to use as a study – maybe I would take up studying the works of Plato – that’s Plato, not Pluto, although…..
The upper part of the landing offered further delights in the form of two additional good-sized bedrooms which, with their period style windows, were both thoroughly charming and welcoming rooms. I also found a stylish bathroom before realising, with reluctance, that it was time to leave 83 Hoole Road. All that remained to do was to explore the outside space. I had already seen the neat, largely gravelled front garden. Now I made my way out to the back of the house where I found myself on a paved area perfectly designed for entertaining – added to which, I noted, it would be deliciously low maintenance meaning more time for relaxing with friends! As if 83 Hoole Road wasn’t perfect enough, its hidden jewel in the crown is that it also has space for off road parking for two cars – quite a coup in busy Hoole!
If chic cosmopolitan living is your thing you really could not ask for more from a home. 83 Hoole Road is a must see and if you are bursting at the seams to see this fabulous property please call myself or one of my team on 01244 322322 to book a viewing.
Until next time
