Save the date – Farndon Soapbox Derby 2024
After two successful years, the Farndon Soapbox Derby has now established itself as a key fixture in the local calendar and we are delighted to confirm that we will be sponsoring this fabulous event once again in 2024. The Soapbox Derby is all about coming together as a community to raise money for some amazing, good causes and have a load of fun whilst doing so! Since its inaugural event in 2022 it has raised almost £50,000 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and other local causes.
For those of you who are unsure what the Soapbox Derby is, it is a time trial charity event for gravity powered homemade karts. The karts compete against the clock starting from the bed of a 30 foot trailer, down a ramp and along a 350metre track complete with thrilling declines, curves, jumps and bumps! Last year’s competitors included jockeys, ghostbusters and Banana Splits to name but a few!
It is no exaggeration to say that we love attending the event, entering a kart always brings out Tim’s competitive side and sponsorship of the event gives us a perfect excuse to host guests in the VIP enclosure.
More modifications have been made to Ralph’s Rocket since last September so be prepared for some daring karting exploits from the racing estate agent and his rocket!
In all seriousness, The Farndon Soapbox Derby has exceeded our expectations over the last two years. The organisation team have shown themselves to be consummate professionals – the event is seamlessly coordinated, and the crowds of spectators bring a joyous, end of summer feel to the day. This year the event promises to be even bigger and better with record crowds expected. Aside from the racing they will be able to browse the stalls at the country market and the school fayre, where they will find gifts and crafts, as well as food and drink from local artisans to sustain them through the day.
We are thrilled to be sponsoring the event and to be hosting the Rickitt Partnership hospitality area in the VIP Corporate Sponsors Village once again. Clients and friends of Rickitt Partnership are warmly invited to pop over, say hello and share in a glass of something bubbly!
We have no doubt that this year’s Farndon Soapbox Derby will be a fabulous day out for all the family, full of fun, laughter and brilliant entertainment. So make sure you save the date – Sunday 15th September and be there in time for the first race at 11am. The best part about it all is that all the money raised goes to charity with 90% going to The Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the remaining 10% going to local good causes. Last year beneficiaries included the Holt under 5’s, Holt Primary School, Holt Community Gardeners, Farndon Memorial Hall, The Kenyon Hall in Holt and Kelly’s Kitties and K9s – an animal rescue that helps hundreds of stray and abandoned animals (Ralph especially approved of this donation!).
As always, The Derby promises to bring joy, celebration and community spirit to a September Sunday, come rain or shine and we at Rickitt Partnership intend to do our bit to help make that happen.
