Chester’s Winter Watch Parade

The dark winter’s evening will be lit up by a loud and colourful parade of Christmas. The traditional parade of light and sound will march through the streets of Chester. This is a great spectacle with everyone dressed up in amazing costumes. It starts from the Town Hall Square and leads around the city centre taking in St. Werburgh Street, Eastgate Street, Bridge Street, The Cross and Northgate Street. The parade is led by a Samba band and has a real festival atmosphere. Starts 7pm.

Chester’s Christmas Market is back! As usual it will be situated outside Chester’s historic Town Hall, Library and Cathedral! The Christmas market is free to enter and is the perfect place to browse the 70 traditional wooden chalets in the quest for fabulous and unique gifts
There will also be a bountiful supply of delicious hot food and drinks, including tasty mulled wine and hot chocolate; the perfect way to keep warm whilst enjoying the market.
Open 7 days a week 10am to 6pm from Sunday to Wednesday with late night shopping on Thursdays until 8pm and until 7pm on Friday and Saturday
Gospel at Clonter Opera Theatre, Chester

For those of you who love a bit of gospel, the London Adventist Chorale returns to Chester to perform their annual Christmas special. This is one not to be missed as they are hailed as one of the world’s greatest gospel choirs.

If this doesn’t get you in the Christmas spirit, nothing will! Join the Chester Bach singers for a mix of carols and seasonal music. This event is all about audience participation and is great fun. Added to which you receive a complimentary seasonal glass of mulled wine and a mince pie during the interval.
Chester Round the Walls Run
Boxing Day December
This does what it says in the tin, it is a run around Chester city walls, Although weather and the condition of the walls have caused some variations to the route over the years, this event has been held every Boxing Day since its inception in 1972. The standard route is between 4.5 and 5 miles, starting on the Roodee racecourse and following almost the full 2-mile length of the Roman and Medieval walls, to finish back on the racecourse.

Christmas Floral Extravaganza

Arley Hall & Gardens
Every day between 2 and 7 December each room in the Hall will be decorated with hundreds of fresh flowers and foliage from the Arley estate gardens. Individual florists and students from floristry colleges decorate rooms in the hall in a traditional and stunning style.
The Chapel is also decorated and local schools are invited to each decorate a Christmas tree which will be on display in the Cruck Barn, make sure you vote for your favourite!

Go on a magical journey through the festive Christmas Mansion and be inspired by turtle doves, gold rings and ladies dancing!
